Sue Woodall

Sue has over 30 years’ executive experience in procurement, consulting, and operations in complex industrial, technology, retail, services and government sectors. She has worked for companies like American Express, EDS, Orica and Qantas, working in Australia and Singapore. After returning to Australia in 2017, Sue set up her own consulting business which she run until recruited by NSW Government, as the Chief Procurement Officer. In this role Sue was responsible for driving social and commercial outcomes for the State, influencing spend of more than $30Bil. While working for NSW Government, Sue was diagnosed with breast cancer (ER+ / HER2). She is recovering from extensive treatment for breast cancer and is now focusing on advocating for better workplace outcomes for people with cancer. Sue has set up a platform to help patients / survivors of cancer to navigate the often-difficult work-cancer journey, and to educate employers on how they might provide empathetic, practical support for their colleagues diagnosed with cancer. As a consumer advocate, with lived breast cancer and extensive leadership experience I am passionate about giving back to our community, in particular the working women of Australia. Not many know that in 2004-5, she facilitated legislative change in NSW to enable food businesses to donate excess food to charities, without civil liability. It is called the Good Samaritan Legislation and enables organisations like OZ Harvest to repurpose food.
