Purpose:
The purpose of this presentation is to investigate the psychosocial difficulties that Adult Cancer survivors, whom are still in their early stages of life (ages 18-50) experience and evaluate the expectations that these individuals have when trying to adjust back into their pre-cancer environment and routine.
The basis of this study is on the 6 domains of wellness; social, spiritual, occupational, physical, intellectual and emotional, that Bloomhill incorporates into their foundation of care for individuals impacted by cancer.
Methods:
Cancer survivors (aged 18-50), who are active clients of Bloomhill, will be invited to complete a survey and a one-on-one discussion on their experience with ‘life after cancer’ and which aspects of life (social, emotional, spiritual, occupational, physical and intellectual) were the most difficult to integrate themselves back into.
This study will use qualitative research methodologies to attain specific individual survivorship experiences, pre-survivorship expectations, specific aspects that were the most difficult to navigate in their post cancer journey, and why?
Additional analysis will determine the average statistical variation regarding which aspects of wellness were the most challenging to rehabilitate into.
Furthermore, the continuous data gathered will determine if there is an association between different age groups and which aspects were more challenging.
Results:
The results will determine which of the 6 Domains of wellness were the most difficult for individuals aged between 18-50 to adjust to when transitioning into survivorship and if their expectations of integrating back into their pre-cancer diagnosis environment were achieved or not?
